Philip Devine Joins Torrey Smith Realty Company Co. LLC
Philip Devine joins Torrey Smith Realty Company with a unique background in real estate, theology and the armed forces. Born in Germany and raised in Indiana, the Bagdad, Kentucky resident landed in Shelby County via Dallas, Texas in search of the perfect place for him and wife Loretta to raise their four kids (Josselyn, Annabelle, Oliver and Theodore). Now, Philip is eager to help other families like his find their sense of place in a town that he describes as "much better than Mayberry." Philip spent the last three years in Louisville selling real estate while attending classes at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He recently made the decision to work full-time in real estate in Shelby County, where he believes the combination of excellent schools, a burgeoning downtown, thriving economy, close-knit community and a small town feel make for a great place to settle down and still be part of the excitement of a metropolitan area.
Philip holds dual citizenship in Germany and the United States, and has traveled extensively around the world while serving in the Marine Corps, so he brings a true world view to his role as an agent for Torrey Smith Realty Company. He holds a bachelor's degree in ministry and leadership from Dallas Christian College where he experienced life as a Texan in a large city. Philip credits his travels for giving him a broad perspective and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people. He uses the skills he developed in the Marine Corps to stay extremely organized and help other people make sound decisions. "I literally have a digital checklist of things I do with clients to ensure consistent results and make sure nothing falls through the cracks," he explained. "One of the things I bring to the table is a focused mindset. That's something I perfected as a Marine, but it's useful as I work with people who are making really big decisions," Philip said. Having served in the both the infantry and prepared for a life in ministry, Philip jokes that he's trained to take lives as well as save souls. "I believe that you have to have a holistic view of real estate and be aware of the changes that are going on in the industry. You also need to be a realist and a steady voice with clients as you help them navigate the emotional side of the buying and selling process," he added.
When he's not helping Loretta and the kids with nurturing their fruit trees, chickens, goats and ducks on their property, Philip enjoys exercising and writing songs.
